ARCTIC JOURNEYS, Edward Shackleton, Hodder & Stoughton, 1st edn., 1937, B&W plates, VG+ 370 page hardback with VG+ scarce jacket, minor foxing to jacket, fold-out coloured map showing routes of the 1934/35 Oxford University Ellesmere Land expedition. The expedition wintered in Grinnell Land making dog sledge journeys around Ellesmere Land and across to the Etah district of NW Greenland, Eddie (later, Lord) Shackleton, Ernest Shackleton's son told me that he only agreed to write this book as he needed the publisher's advance so he could go skiing in The Alps. It is a finely crafted account in the style produced by the numerous British Greenland expeditions in the 20/30s - scarce in this condition $275
