A remarkable character from yesteryear...a British military man of long-standing who made journeys through Chitral, Baltistan, Sikkim and Nepal but he was also a member of many of the early Himalayan climbing expeditions, travelled with Conway in Karakoram and led Everest 1922 expedition etc. I wish someone would write a full biography of Bruce...but, till then, this autobiography of a crucial 20 years is rich beyond measure....a cornerstone work for a serious Himalayan library.
