This is the first edition, Smith Elder issue, It includes many excellent sketches that were not included in Scott. The Australian geologist T. Griffith Taylor was a student of Prof. T. W. Edgeworth David, who accompanied Shackleton to the Antarctic in 1907-9. Grif Taylor joined Scott's Terra Nova expedition (1910-13). "He had devices and notebooks hanging out of every pocket and a passion for being well equipped. He was enraptured with geology."
